Recent studies on bone bone show it has impressive healing powers, especially when given to people suffering from digestive issues like leaky gut and IBS. This is down to it containing compounds like:
1⃣Glutamine protects the gut lining and provides fuel for the cells of the small intestine. 2⃣Glycine stimulates stomach acid production, helping digestion disorders like reflux, IBS, bloating and issues with #FODMAPs. It also plays a key role in bile acids production! 3⃣And GAGs - the best known is glucosamine, they help to produce the mucous that layers the GI tract, reduce inflammation and strengthens gut bacteria, while reducing the effects of unwanted bacterias.

Nourishing Bone Broth
2–3 kg Organic beef bones, chicken carcasses, lamb bones (my favourite)
2 handfuls of any onions, leeks, carrots or celery ends 1 tbsp black peppercorns
A few dried bay leaves Optional
1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar.
1. Place the bones and ingredients into a large cooking pot and cover with cold filtered water. The water level should cover the bones completely, whilst still leaving room at the top of the pan to avoid overspill.
2. Cover with a lid and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, lid on, for at least 8 hours for chicken and 12 for beef or lamb. The longer the bones are left to simmer, the more nutrients are released into the broth. It's important to skim off any foam that rises to the top.
Ideally you should boil the chicken carcass for up to 12 hours and keep beef bones simmering for 24 hours. The apple cider vinegar also helps to extract more nutrients from the bones.
4. Strain the liquid, using a muslin cloth or strainer. Leave to cool before storing in glass/ceramic container. Bone broth will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days .
5. I like to separate my broth into individual portions and store them in the freezer. Then I use it as the base of sauces, soups or add some fresh turmeric and drink it by itself .
